Challenge yourself, jump off the deep end and learn to swim

Imagine the scene it’s a Monday morning and it’s the 1st day of the 1 week Intensive ‘Train to be a Personal Stylist’ course and my new delegates are anxiously waiting to learn more about the agenda for their upcoming week. Over a cup of coffee I inform them that today/Monday they will learn everything they need to know about Personal Shopping, Tuesday, Wardrobe Styling and Wednesday Colour Analysis. I keep emphasising these are the three essential skills that every (good) Personal stylist requires. I then tell them how I have no doubt that by the end of these 3 […]

Fail to plan, plan to fail!

This simple famous quote by Benjamin Franklin is one of my favourite quotes of all time as it really does ring true! And this has been so evident to me since running the Training Academy. By now we’ve probably (and proudly) trained over 400 women (and a few men) and we see it time and time again, you can be the best, most creative, stylish, fashion forward, passionate stylist out there but if you haven’t got the right business skills you simply will not succeed in the Personal Styling industry because essentially what you are doing is running your own […]

Expectation + Action = Creation!

Expectation + Action = Creation!

Happy New Year everybody! Like most people I couldn’t wait to see the back of 2016, it was in reflection one of the hardest years for me in all areas of my life, from my health, finances to my personal relationships…. In 2016 it felt like everything I truly wanted just wasn’t coming my way and it seemed the more I pushed for things the further out of reach they became… Which got me thinking about the Law of Attraction something I’ve always been a big believer of. Very often when I’m in store Personal Shopping with a client, I feel the staff are watching me, not in a bad way I might add but almost with a longing gaze. They initially hover around me asking if I need their help but once they can see I’ve got things covered they soon wander off. They watch me confidently choose items for my client and are usually in shock at how everything we take into the fitting room fits them like a glove. Of course it’s because I’m dressing my client in their right colours and shape but for […]

Do you dream of becoming a Personal Stylist and getting out of the Rat Race?

Do you dream of becoming a Personal Stylist and getting out of the Rat Race?

I always smile when the well-established career girl comes to one of our training courses. By career girl you know who I mean: the Accountant, Lawyer, IT consultant, Marketing Manager or even the PA; it’s the woman who’s used to working long hours with no flexibility, craving to do a job she loves and dare I say it, express her creativity; helping women look and feel their best.   These women usually attend one of our 1-day courses with the mind-set of “what’s the harm? Let me try one course and see if it’s for me”. They juggle their diaries […]

Why not offer Personal Styling to your existing database of clients and double your income?

Why not offer Personal Styling to your existing database of clients and double your income?

At our training academy we train so many different types of women but a growing group is the woman who already is self-employed, either full or part-time. This could be the woman who has a particular skillset such as the Make-up artist, beautician or hairdresser or it could be the sales savvy women selling products such as jewellery (Stella and Dot stylists) or even make-up (Avon or Mary K representatives). One thing all these women have in common is that they already have a database of clients and most importantly they know how to network and market themselves.   These […]
