What’s the right age to become a Personal Stylist?

What’s the right age to become a Personal Stylist?

Here at Style ME Training we pride ourselves on helping any woman of any age to launch their dream career as a Personal Stylist! Anyone from their 20’s to even their 70’s all are welcome through our doors. When we first launched the Academy back in 2012 we presumed our delegates would predominantly by fashionistas in their 20’s looking to break free from their jobs in Retail wanting to launch their own freelance personal styling careers; how wrong we were! Instead, the 40 something woman has been our most popular age group on the course and when I say 40 […]

The Teacher becomes the Student

The Teacher becomes the Student

At our Academy we meet so many different types of delegates from all kinds of backgrounds: different ages, different career backgrounds as well as different cultures and although I’m excited to meet and train them all there’s one kind that even I’m a little intimidated by. Who is it? It’s the Teacher/ Trainer! Why? Because as you’ll all get to find out when you meet me on day one of the training is that I haven’t got a training background nor do I come from a fashion background. I instead have a maths degree and after years in the corporate […]

What are you waiting for?

What are you waiting for?

What I love as my job as a trainer more than anything else is meeting the varied delegates that attend the training. In particular when I do the training as a one on one, I really get to know that delegate well and more often than not I learn just as much from them as they do from me. Take Helen Gormey for instance; when I had the brief chat with her on the phone prior to her attendance I discovered she’s a true professional in world of coaching and psychotherapy. With more letters against her name I was honored […]

How far would you travel for your Training?

How far would you travel for your Training?

I’m proud to say we have so many international delegates that come to our academy. From the US to South America to India, Dubai and of course our neighbouring European countries, we’ve welcomed and trained them all. They come to London primarily because their country of residence simply doesn’t offer all of the training modules that we cover here at Style ME Training at an affordable price. Imagine the frustration they’ve finally realisedW they want to become a Personal Stylist but simply can’t find any nearby Academies to train them. Instead of giving up, they take the first step to […]

Together we are better

Together we are better

When I was making the decision all those years ago to give up my career at Disney and go self-employed as a Personal Stylist one of the biggest questions I had to ask myself was: am I ready to work alone? Although I didn’t love everybody in my immediate team I was still part of bigger organization and within that I had a few very close friends; people who I would go to lunch with, grab a drink with after work and more importantly people who would without fail check in on me every day. It’s fair to say I’m […]

Learn from your Mistakes!

Learn from your Mistakes!

When I ask potential delegates why do they want to become a Personal Stylist during our phone consultation the answers are usually the same: I love clothes and shopping, I’m good with people and a lot of my friends ask me for fashion advice because they feel I dress myself well. I agree with them that this is a good start and if the fit is right more often than not they book on to one of our styling courses. They arrive on the Monday probably in one of their outfits that they feel suits them and are generally feeling […]
