Style ME Training

Many potential delegates ask, is this a good time to train to become a Personal Stylist? Surely people view personal styling as a luxury not an essential. Although it may seem that way, I’ve been in the industry long enough to tell you, my Personal Styling business seems to grow when times are tough, for the following 3 reasons:

Sustainability: Sustainability is on everyone’s mind. We want our existing wardrobe to work for us. A lot of customers say they have plenty of clothes, but they just don’t seem to wear them, it’s the classic 80/20 rule, wearing 20% of you wardrobe 80% of the time.
This is when a home visit, where we carry out a Colour Analysis session and Wardrobe Edit comes to play. Once we’ve worked out our client’s colours and body shape and understood their lifestyle and styling dilemmas, we show them how to put looks together with their existing items. We also advice on which items they can save or revamp, through alterations or even clothes dyeing. We then either sell or donate the unwanted items.

Conscious Shopping: The days of buying a new top every week without giving it much thought have gone. Before it didn’t matter if you only wore it once or even if you never wore it at all, it was cheap fast fashion but now with the cost-of-living crisis we are all wanting to shop wisely. Speaking to my clients they all want a Capsule Wardrobe; key items they can get good wear out of because they can all be mixed and matched, worn day to night, season to season. A good personal stylist works with their client’s budget and helps them create exactly that, which of course saves them money in the long run.

Dressing for the job they want: Things are tough out there in the working environment and currently my most popular client base is women and men who want to dress better for work. If they have a job, they want to dress better for it, to keep it or to get a promotion or if they aren’t working, because the competition is so high, they are willing to invest in a Personal stylist to nail it at the interview stage.

The way I see it, people will always need clothes, and now more than ever we need to wear the right clothes, and shop wisely, therefore there will always be a demand for Personal Styling.
